Will More People Burnout By Working From Home?

In 2013, Marissa Mayer made headlines around the world as the CEO of Yahoo! when Yahoo! employees were told they could no longer work from home.

The drivers for this were primarily a desire to improve productivity, collaboration, and innovation.

This year the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the largest work from home experiment ever.

And guess what?

Everyone hasn’t liked working from home as much as they thought they would!!!

The Bloomberg article Three Hours Longer, the Pandemic Workday Has Obliterated Work-Life Balance resonated with some of the stories I’ve seen and heard from those who are struggling with working much longer hours when they work from home.

Make no mistake, a number of people work effectively from home. And that's awesome that they do, but this isn't a reason to ignore the difficulties others are facing.

The reality is there are also a lot of people who don’t work from home well whatsoever. And they need help!!!

Unfortunately, many who are struggling with it feel obliged to say they’re fine when they’re completely overwhelmed. It's like some kind of badge of honor.

And this isn’t healthy, sustainable or productive.

The Bloomberg article also points out people are overworked, stressed, and eager to get back to the office.

I hope shedding a light on the challenges of working from home encourages those who need help that it's ok to ask for it!!!

🙋 Are you surprised by the data confirming the typical person works 3 hours longer hours when working from home?
