Here’s why Siemens announcing a new work from anywhere policy to its 380,000 workforce caught my eye.
Stay with me for a moment before you go “So what!”
What I see as massive is how Siemens announced:
🔆 Focus will shift to employee outcomes rather than time spent in the office
🔆 Employees will be trusted and empowered
🔆 Under the new model, employees can work from anywhere or 2 to 3 days a week and then in the office for the remainder
In other words, Siemens will reward care and trust their employees.
I likened this approach to the Netflix (who are considered 1 of the best companies to work for) view of “hire, reward and tolerate only fully formed adults.”
This is great how a major company like Siemens is endorsing the work from anywhere approach with a blended model.
What I know about productivity screams out to me how this significant change in culture won’t necessarily be a smooth transition for all employees. Some will take to it like a “hot knife through butter” while others will need help in learning how to deliver outcomes and lead effectively while working from anywhere.
Like any productivity initiative success will depend on a change management process that embeds skills via the right techniques and habits.
Work from anywhere is becoming a significant change in how companies operate. Get this right and Siemens have a key pillar in attracting and retaining top talent.
