Standardise how to work to mobilise where to work

The concept of working from anywhere isn't new. The COVID-19 pandemic has just made it more popular now.

This week Slack hosted a great webinar “Navigating the disruption of work” which was essentially Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield chatting with Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes.

What a privilege it was to hear these 2 leaders talk!!!

Amongst the great content Mike Cannon-Brookes commented how we need to separate how we work from where we work.

The logic is we need to standardise how we work before we can mobilise where we work.

I love this concept of standardising work methods, guiding principles, response time expectations, how meetings will be run etc.

While I believe everyone doesn’t work the same way, I think there’s also real opportunity to standardise the outputs from our habits that are often hidden ie. procrastination, distractions etc

This way people still get to play to their strengths & uniqueness as they work from anywhere.

In this video I explore this topic further.

🙋 What's a key aspect of work you would standardise to mobilise working from anywhere?
