Is it unreasonable to expect experts to do a task right the first time?

About a month ago I shared how 60 square metres of my floorboards at home had to be replaced. What was meant to be a 2 week job slipped out to 25 days.

Well we were meant to move back in last week (we’d been in temporary accommodation for 1 month) but the walkthrough identified a significant number of defects.

New timeline has been extended by another week.

Imagine the cost ramifications as a result of not doing it right the first time.

While the building game is not an exact science, quality standards are quality standards.

Now think how much time is wasted by yourself or others at work due to errors. Sometimes we’re more productive if we slow down by making fewer errors and doing it right the first time.
